See gilding being done with traditional methods at the Kum BakYeon Workshop. The workshop is operated by master artisan Deokhwan Kim who was bestowed the title of Important Intangible Cultural Property No. 119. The Kim family has been practicing the art of gold leaf for five generations and some of the wooden blocks used at the workshop today were once used in the palace to imprint the royal seal on items. Gold leaf decorations are used on silk and other fabrics as well as on furniture and other household items. Visitors can also opt to try a gold leaf activity at the workshop. Take home a special souvenir after a visit to Kum BakYeon.
