The Rooster, Welcoming the New Dawn
Celebrate the Lunar New Year at the National Folk Museum from Jan. 27th to Jan. 30th, 2017. There will be performances and fun activities to enjoy!
Just as roosters welcome in the new dawn, visitors will be able to welcome in the new year at the museum. There will be traditional arts performances with music, a Buddhist prayer corner, and crafts activities to partake in. Visitors will also be able to experience Lunar New Year customs that take place in Korean homes. A charye table (a major part of holiday celebrations) will be set up on the museum's grounds so that visitors can observe holiday rituals. There will be a hanbok dress-up experience and great photo opportunities throughout the festival's duration.
For a bit of light-hearted fun, visitors can have their fortunes read read as part of the museum's Yutnori Fortunes event. Yutnori is a traditional Korean game that uses sticks rather than dice. Fortunes will be read with yutnori sticks!
