Celebrate the Lunar New Year at Namsangol Hanok Village!
Ring in the New Year at Namsangol Hanok Village at the Five Nobleman's Lunar New Year Feast; taking place on Jan. 28th and 29th, 2017. The concept for this special holiday event is a feast at homes of noblemen. Visitors will be able to tour the homes of Korean noblemen while enjoying Lunar New Year festivities. There will be folk games, traditional performances, and hands-on activities for visitors to participate in.
The charye ceremony, which is a memorial ceremony that honors one's ancestors, is an integral part of the holiday. An elaborate charye table is prepared with food as part of the charye ceremony. At Namsangol, there will be a communal charye table, set up for all who were unable to prepare a charye table at home, accompanied by a guided explanation so that visitors will be able to learn about charye.
Tteokguk (sliced rice cake soup) is the representative dish of the Lunar New Year. There will be free tteokguk for visitors to enjoy, as well as fun activities such as writing wish notes, making crafts, and much more. Enjoy the Lunar New Year holiday at Namsangol Hanok Village!
