In spring of 1866, the Korean peninsula was undergoing an extreme political turmoil among the world powers. The empress Myeongseong was an intelligent and beautiful lady married to King Gojong who became pregnant with a sound and healthy prince. Later, the empress suggests the king a direct rule, which irritates Daewonkun, the father of the king. As Gojong comes to the power, Daewonkun had to step down. On the other hand, Japan that was encroaching over Korea as a stepping stone to integrate the entire Asia considers the Empress as an obstacle to their plan and decides to assassinate her….
