Has this happened to you? You're in the middle of perfectly enjoyable tour when you can't seem to find the tourist destination you've been meaning to see. The brochures you've taken along with you are OK, but there's only so much detail that can provide. After walking around for an hour or so with little luck, you decide to find a PC cafe; in the hope that the World Wide Web might have what you're looking for. You do eventually find the information you need, but only after tediously sifting through the incredible amount of completely useless info that fills up the Information Superhighway. In the meantime, you've wasted precious hours off your limited touring time.
Wouldn't it have been nice if there was just someplace you could call to get the information you need with no more effort than it takes to dial your cellular phone?
Well, thanks to the Korea Tourism Organization, now there is. With the KTO's Korea Travel Phone 1330, travelers now have instant tourist information at the tip of the finger.
With more and more tourists coming to Korea without the benefit of tour guides to shepherd them around, this is a most welcome service that should make the beauty and wonder of Korea more accessible to independent travelers. No more juggling tourist pamphlets. No more fingering through travel books as thick as the Bible. No more frantic Internet searches.
Korea Travel Phone's staff are on-call 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year. Even in the middle of the night, inquiries made to tourist information centers nationwide are directed to a KTO-run call center where your questions will be answered by a bilingual tourism professional.
Service in available in three foreign languages---English, Japanese and Chinese. Of course, if you'd prefer to use Korean, that's OK, too.
From a standard phone, all you need to do to make use of the service is dial 1330. It¡¯s that simple. From a cell phone, just add Seoul area code 02 before 1330. If you¡¯d like information specific to a particular province, add the area code of the region (see below) before entering 1330 (if you're using a cell phone, be sure NOT to enter 02 unless you want information on Seoul). If you're calling from abroad, enter Korea's nation code 82 and the provincial area code before 1330.
Users are charged local telephone rates.
