  • A place where upscale and working-class residences coexist and foreign embassies and the US Army base are located, Itaewon thrives with people of diverse nationalities residing in the area, creating a unique culture. It is one of the most distinct neighborhoods in Seoul. The area between Noksapyeong, Itaewon, and Hangangjin Stations on Subway Line 6 is called Itaewon. It includes Haebangchon and Gyeongnidan Street. The area is also lined with popular restaurants offering diverse cuisines, from Thai, Vietnamese, Turkish, Brazilian, Spanish, American, French, Italian, and African to fusion Korean dishes. When major events such as Halloween and Christmas are held, Itaewon’s streets become filled with Koreans from all over the country and international visitors from all over the world coming to enjoy the events. The residential area from Itaewon Station Exit 2 to the Grand Hyatt Hotel is a rich neighborhood called “Chairmen’s Village,” the location of those large houses appearing in Korean dramas. This neighborhood is known for being the residence of not only chairpersons of large enterprises but also K-Pop singers and movie stars. Walking from here, you will encounter the Leeum Museum of Art, the highlight of Korea’s contemporary art museums. A bit farther is the road to N Seoul Tower, so I hope you enjoy the walk. From Itaewon Station Exit 3, you will find Usadan Street, which is becoming a trendy must-visit place. There, you will find an Islam Mosque boasting elegant architecture and a residential area favored by Muslims from all over the world. Here, you will find a currency exchange kiosk run by a gentleman from Kenya and a Turkish seller offering cell phones, making you wonder whether you really are in Korea. That is how unique this place is. Some supermarkets also sell unique food ingredients in different corners of the neighborhood, so try them out. From the Islam Mosque to Usadan Street, the area is filled with cafés and restaurants frequented by secretly dating young celebrities. There are also many chic boutiques that are full of personality as they were constructed by repairing old buildings. From Exit 4 of Itaewon Station, you will bask in a different ambience. Here, you will find many old restaurants and Koreans who have long lived in the area. Several guesthouses are located here as well. It is rather noisy with the nearby restaurants and people chattering, but it suddenly becomes strangely quiet as you enter the residential area. This spot is often used as a filming site, and many entertainment management companies are gathered here, so you will encounter groups of foreign fans waiting for a glimpse of their favorite Korean celebrities. You can also see many actors drinking beer in front of convenience stores and top models walking along the streets. In addition, you will often encounter foreign broadcasters working in Korea.Rapa Nui is located here, a residential area that goes quiet after passing through famed but noisy global restaurants filled with people waiting for their turn. As it is a crowded area, the police patrol at all times, so it remains safe. You can enjoy the beautiful night scenery of the Hangang River (Jamsugyo Bridge) just a few steps away, so don’t miss out.

  • It is a one-story detached house with a yard and rooftop. It offers three bedrooms, two bathrooms, and a living room. Two rooms have smart TVs installed. The kitchen has a door leading to the yard where you can enjoy a meal on the table outside after cooking. With the entrance door fitted with a mosquito net closed, you can also enjoy leisurely rest and bask in the natural breeze while sitting on the floor. The mattress and bedding in each room are of hotel quality, bouncy, and comfortable. There is a large Whirlpool dryer and ample large sterilized and dried towels, as well as ordinary ones. Enjoy a nice teatime in the yard, and lie on the sunbed on the rooftop. Smoking in the yard or rooftop is allowed. Because it is a detached house, guests don’t have to worry about noise between floors or any complaints. The house also operated as an isolation facility for a year and a half in cooperation with the Yongsan-gu Community Health Center. You can rent a piano or a treadmill. To ensure safety, a KT security camera is installed in front of the gate so that security officers can immediately arrive in case of an emergency. Guests can also bring pets. There is one parking space in the alley in front of the house, but notice must be given “in advance” if you plan to use the space.

Take the Airport Railroad Express (AREX) from Gimpo International Airport, transfer to Line 6 at Gongdeok Station, and get off at the fourth stop, Itaewon Station (34 minutes). From Incheon International Airport, take AREX, transfer to Line 6 at Gongdeok Station, and get off at the fourth stop, Itaewon Station (70 minutes). Take Bus No. 6030 at Incheon International Airport and get off at Hamilton Hotel Bus Stop (17th bus stop) (about 80–90 minutes). ※ There is no direct bus from Gimpo International Airport. A taxi driver exclusively working for Bora Bora who can speak Korean/English/Japanese/Chinese will wait by the arrival gate of Incheon/Gimpo International Airport, holding a picket. (Taxi fare): Credit cards are accepted. QM6 Taxi: KRW 100,000 / USD 90 Jumbo Taxi: KRW 120,000 / USD 100 ※ Inform the host at least two days before the check-in date to make a reservation. It is a 3-minute walk from Exit 4 of Itaewon Station on Subway Line 6. Itaewon is considered a hub between Seoul’s southern and northern ends and is easily accessible by public transportation. By riding a bus, you can quickly go to the south of the Hangang River (Gangnam) (Gangnam Station / Garosu Street) or its north (Gangbuk) (Myeong-dong/ Jongno / Hongik University area, etc.). There are four bus stops near the house. You can comfortably ride the subway to get to the house or ride the bus to enjoy Seoul’s different sceneries fully. The host can help, so we recommend riding a bus. It takes about 15–20 minutes to go almost anywhere in Seoul.
