About
  • The focus of people living a hectic life in the present times is shifting from physical and quantitative value towards mental and qualitative value. Walking slowly in the hanok village, off the main road in Tongin-dong, Jongno-gu, you will come to an elegant hanok house. Named after Dasan Jeong Yak-yong’s “residence of a hermit,” a home of a hermit hidden from the world, Losthouse warmly welcomes people who wish to hide away from the world.
Details
  • This L-shaped hanok consists of a yard, a bedroom, a dining room, and a home theater. Each space is separated and also connected by the doors. It is also extended to the outside, offering a range of experiences to those staying there.

The space between the bedroom and the home theater is both a powder room and a room from which a film is projected through a screen. The neat and snug dining room is where you can enjoy a light meal, coffee, and reading. The low wooden furniture, which suits the characteristic of hanok housing, is an example to effectively use the small space. It is also designed to connect the indoor area with the yard.

While staying here, you can experience the synesthesia leading to inner healing through a combination of the elements of fragrance, light, music, and warmth. Inside the wooden doors, you will be greeted by the Scent of Dongmyeong from Sutome Apothecary, a natural fragrance brand, which is also a motif of the space. Next to the warm light of George Nelson’s Bubble Lamp, you can spend an afternoon watching a movie, which is the art of light and time, by putting down life’s burden and distracting thoughts. Filling your body with warmth by putting your feet into a foot bath hidden under the table would also be a feel-good experience.

Losthouse is equipped with an IoT system to eliminate the inconvenience of hanok living while keeping the elegant atmosphere intact. Intuitively adjusting the light, music, and temperature according to your emotion and taste is another virtue of a hermit that enjoys the atmosphere of a space. In Losthouse, you will be able to enjoy not only the hanok experience, but also quality time to answer the questions that have been hovering your head.
