You toss out the question to your friends about how they’ll spend the Chuseok holiday, yet you feel that slight sting knowing that you’ll have to go it alone. Good ol’ me! To honor this special time for all those solo-goers out there, the editor team of five, i.e. five solo-goers like yourself, are here to introduce how they plan to spend the holiday season this year. “I enjoy the excitement of going at it alone sometimes!”
Well, no family around to spend the holidays. Let alone any friends to meet up and hang out with. It definitely might get lonely. I’m sick of staring at my phone all the time when there are no calls or messages to begin with! It’s up to me, I guess, to head out and do my own thing! Yeonnamdong, here I come! All you solo-goers out there, come meet me over at Git-teol for a drink, won’t you?! At first, it’s a little awkward, but before you know it, you’ll be striking up a conversation in good company with the bartenders and people around you, and then you'll realize that you’re not alone after all!

“I need this holiday season to recharge my batteries.”
We’re already 2/3 through 2020, and what an “eventful” year it’s been to say the least. This long holiday break would be the perfect chance to spend a little “me” time. I’ve always enjoyed visiting the many temples around the city, and the Bongeunsa Temple has, by far, stood out the most to me. For the last few years, since it’s close to the office, it’s always been one of my favorite healing spots! Despite it being smack-dab in downtown Seoul, the second you enter the temple grounds, you seemingly get transported to another world. It’s great! And the temple stay is even better as visitors enjoy the everyday lifestyle of a monk with 108 prostrations, or bows, healthy temple foods, journaling, and more! Before you know it, all your worldly problems and worries dissipate into nothingness. Take a step back from the daily grind and reward yourself with some genuine rest for the body and soul this holiday break!
“It’s those Korean pancakes that do me in every time!”
The temptation of holiday food kills me every year! From jeon, or Korean pancakes, and japchae, to songpyeon and sujeonggwa, or Korean cinnamon punch, I find myself tempted at each and every item out on display at each shop. It’s great comfort food to help subside the feelings of loneliness being far away from family, but after all my “comforting” is said and done, I’ve packed on nearly 3 kg... These markets are ridiculous with all their delectable food and treats! Ya’ll better watch out that you don’t fall victim to all the deliciousness, too! Calories are not your friend this holiday season! Anywho, as per tradition, a little weight gain won’t stop me from enjoying my Chuseok holiday food! See you at Mangwon Market!
Traditional Markets in Seoul Mangwon Market, Tongil Market, Dongdaemun Shopping Complex, and more!

“No Chuseok is complete without catching a glimpse of the full moon!”
This year, with the five-day holiday break in hand and the beaming moonlight of the full moon, it could be my chance for that big break I’ve been waiting for! In fact, they say it’s good luck to be the first to view the light of the full moon on Chuseok. And one of the best places to do so is at Dalmajibong Park! Even though the elevation may not be spectacularly high, the park captures a wonderful panoramic view of the Hangang River nightscape and full moon! If you are anxious to be the first out there to greet the full moon, don’t be afraid to venture to any nearby rooftop, too! Get out there and pay your respects to the stars and see if this year’s full moon will grant you your heart’s most desired wish!

“Musical tickets go on sale during the holiday?! I’m on it!”
I’m an absolute fanatic about catching all the top musical showings . And I always save frantically just so that I’m able to do so! Especially, whenever autumn comes around, my favorite musical melodies start playing in my head, turning me into a musical fiend hunting down special holiday offers on Interpark! Come out to the theater during this autumn season and relish in all the quality musicals out there! There’s no reason to stay stuck at home when you can get out there and enjoy all the musicals or other concert performances available! I know I’m going to get my tickets early so I can enjoy a front-row seat! Maybe we’ll see each other there!
