Rakkojae is a beautiful hanok guesthouse and restaurant that is located near Anguk Station. Built over 130 years ago, Rakkojae's main building was once a Korean cultural academy. The building has undergone subsequent renovation and was remodeled into its current form by Jeong Yeongjin who holds the designation of Master Carpenter of Human Cultural Properties. At Rakkojae's restaurant, visitors can enjoy Korean food, a tea drinking ceremony, Korean folk music and dance in the picturesque setting of a traditional hanok. Advance reservations are required to dine at Rakkojae. Experience Seoul in a beautiful traditional hanok!

Rakgojae is a traditional cultural experience center where visitors can stay in a traditional hanok and enjoy traditional food, music, and dance. Built in an “ㅁ” shape around a central courtyard, Rakgojae faithfully recreates the refined lifestyle of the yangban aristocracy of the past. The beauty of traditional architecture is enhanced by the natural charm of the tiled walls, pavilions, ponds, jar racks, and chimneys, as well as the pine trees and bamboo scattered among the hanok buildings. Visitors can also experience Korean traditional culture, including traditional cuisine and tea ceremonies, as well as performances of traditional Korean music such as daegeum and pansori. However, Rakgojae is rented out as an entire house for groups of 5–9 people, and the price is comparable to that of a hotel. Agungi Jjimjilbang: Rakgojae features an Agungi Jjimjilbang. Overnight guests can use it free of charge. The unique warmth of the ondol heating system is another charm of the hanok for foreign tourists. Exclamations of “Wonderful!” keep coming out.

Read before Reservation
  • Reservations must be made at least three days prior to the tour date.
  • Additional reservations, one or two days before the tour starts, are only allowed for the tour that is already fixed.
  • In the case of group tour, more than 10people, please contact us by e-mail.
  • Reservations for the following month are available from the 15th of the current month.
  • Please refrain from participating in any tour programs should you be experiencing any symptoms, including fever, coughing, congestion, muscle pain, stuffy nose, and/or sore throat.
  • Reservations for tourists 14 years & under without an accompanying adult or guardian shall be canceled on site.
  • All reservations will be canceled in the event of a weather warning being issued. (e.g. heatwave, typhoon, heavy rain, fine dust, etc.) (Cancellation will be processed immediately upon implementation)
