The EX-Now competition section at the 21st Seoul International Experimental Film Festival (EXiS2024) features a selection of 32 films chosen from over 2,000 submissions from 79 countries and works from domestic and international distributors. These selections were made after careful review by the preliminary jury, focusing on meaningful and impactful works. The films are divided into eight categories: five international (EX-Now 1-5) and three domestic (EX-Now 6-8) categories. The panel of judges will decide the final three award-winning films. The Moving Image Forum, which organizes EXiS, reexamines experimental film theories and issues, creating a foundation for their utilization. Collaborating with museums, alternative spaces, and cinematheques, the forum operates programs and offers workshops and curricula linked to media education. Additionally, the forum archives experimental films and materials, supports filmmakers, and strives to expand the influence of experimental cinema both domestically and internationally.
