The Seoul International Book Fair, which began as a national book exhibition in 1954, has been South Korea's largest book festival for nearly 70 years. It brings together publishers, authors, and readers in one place. The fair serves as a joyful gathering where those who create and read books—authors, scholars, artists, editors, and readers—come together to share knowledge and information. Since 1995, the fair has expanded its international scope, becoming a festival that promotes the exchange of books and culture and a hub for diplomacy and trade. It has grown alongside Korea's cultural, artistic, and academic development, establishing itself as one of Asia's leading book fairs recognized worldwide. In addition to the Seoul International Book Fair event, the fair organizes a Korean Pavilion at overseas book fairs and oversees guest country events. It brings together participants from around the globe to exchange ideas in Seoul and introduces Korean books and culture to the world.
