The 17th Jongno Cheonggye Special Tourist Zone Yukuijeon Festival is where you can experience Yukuijeon, six exclusive stores located in the Cheonggye area of Jongno during the Joseon Dynasty. The king granted exclusive commercial rights for them to procure goods for national demand. Yukuijeon represents Jijeon (Korean paper goods shop), Eomuljeon (seafood shop), Jeopojeon and Pojeon (linen hemp fabric shop), Shenzhen (silk shop), Myeonpojeon (cotton fabric shop), and Myeonjujeon (silk fabric shop).
The Yukuijeon Festival, which marks its 17th anniversary this year, is an event created to share the particularities and experience the characteristics of each store. The festival will feature traditional Yukuijeon exhibitions, modern Yukuijeon exhibitions, experiences of the traditional life of the Joseon Dynasty, various traditional performances, Korean traditional music performances, cultural and artistic performances, and special performances.
