Space K Seoul proudly presents KAWS: FRIENDS AND NEIGHBORS, the first solo museum exhibition in Korea by Brooklyn-based artist KAWS. Starting with graffiti and advertising interventions on the streets of New Jersey and New York in the early-to-mid 1990s, KAWS has built a unique visual language that transcends the boundaries between fine art and popular culture, streets and museums, and images and merchandise. His work, which spans painting, sculpture, graphics, product design, and public projects, brilliantly demonstrates how art can permeate the public's daily life within our contemporary image culture. This exhibition showcases 20 new works, including large-scale paintings and sculptures featuring the artist's signature characters. Friends and Neighbors delves into the complexity of relationships lying beyond KAWS's distinctively popular characters and sensational visuals. Between friends and neighbors, intimacy and discomfort, and connection and disconnection, KAWS's characters make us rethink the conditions of living together.
