《Promise (Where Being Be)》 presents the concept of mutual coexistence beyond linguistic meaning, recalling the interconnected solidarity of nature that has traversed time and space long before civilization. Just as the origins of the words promise and bind are intertwined, beings have long been entangled like threads and have existed together through vast stretches of time. The exhibition consists of five subthemes Lucy, Warning Bell, Microcosm, Subtle Name, and Natural State Beyond Boundaries, along with an archive that surveys the artist’s major body of work. By summoning the long timeline shared by early humans and ourselves, the exhibition reveals the responsibility humanity must bear for the destruction of nature and life, evoking the possibility of coexistence through bleached coral, life in the Demilitarized Zone, and disappearing wildflowers, and leading toward the path of ecological solidarity proposed by the artist. Amid rapidly changing global environments, 《Jae-Eun Choi : Promise (Where Being Be)》 asks what kind of life we should aspire to.
