To commemorate the 80th anniversary of Korea’s Liberation, the special exhibition 'The Day of Our Liberation' is being held. The exhibition is composed of three parts: Part 1 'Records of Liberation Day', Part 2 'Memories of Liberation Day', and Part 3 'Recollections of Liberation Day'. It highlights the Liberation Day commemorative ceremonies and related events, shedding light on how citizens have remembered Liberation Day and the changes in the spirit of the times. In addition, literature, film, music, and other popular culture materials related to Liberation Day are on display, allowing visitors to understand the broader social context of the era.
The exhibition focuses particularly on Liberation Day commemorative ceremonies held after independence, showing how citizens commemorated the event and how the zeitgeist evolved. A highlight of the exhibition is the first public display of a diary donated by a former schoolteacher, covering daily life from June 3 to November 20, 1945. The diary holds special significance as it was written in Japanese before liberation and switched to Korean after news of independence was received.
Through 'The Day of Our Liberation', visitors are invited to reflect on the sacrifices of independence activists and share in the meaning of liberation.
