'Parasite' won the Palme d'Or for the first time among Korean films at the 72th Cannes Film Festival held in May of last year. One year has passed, but many fans are still enthusiastic about this film. The film was ranked all-time second place for streaming views and the most-watched non-English film in just a week after its release in April on Hulu, an online streaming platform in the United States.
As 'Parasite' continues its popularity, filming sites of this film are receiving much attention as well. For this reason, we came up with a new tour course for those who love 'Parasite' and Seoul. “Every nook and cranny of Seoul through 'Parasite'” is a special themed course that combines filming sites of 'Parasite' and nearby attractions in Seoul!
The first is the “Stairs of Jahamun Tunnel” course. Representative tourist spots of Seoul are located close to Jahamun Tunnel. Gyeongbokgung Palace, representing the Joseon Dynasty, Seokpajeong, a garden loved by the king, Seochon, where Korean-style houses are clustered and more. This course tells the history and stories of Korea in the midst of a splendid and busy city.
The family of Ki-taek (Song Kang-ho) has a secret party in the house of Mr. Park (Lee Sun-kyun), who goes for camping. However, Mr. Park and his family cancel the camping and return home because of heavy rain. Ki-taek's family run away from the house. Jahamun Tunnel passed by the rain-soaked family of Ki-taek on their way home is an essential tourist spot for fans of 'Parasite'. There is a photo zone and sign nearby the Stairs of Jahamun Tunnel and at the tunnel entrance. We have two tips for taking awesome photos here. The first tip is to take the same pose as the 'Parasite' poster at the tunnel entrance. The second tip is to take a photo of going down the stairs like Ki-taek’s family from the opposite side of the tunnel.
