Bong Joon-ho's “Parasite” is the first Korean film to win the Palme d'Or at the Cannes film festival. The film's storyline centers around the Kim family, which struggles financially with no one in the family holding a permanent job, but maintains good relations with the affluent family of President Park as Ki-woo, the eldest son of Ki-taek happens to land a high-paying private tutor position in the affluent family of President Park. The film is currently enjoying great popularity in North America following its success in Cannes, France. Parasite has grossed approximately USD 14.41 million in North America, being released in 600 theaters across North America. This has made it the most successful non-English based film released in North America this year (as of November 22). Here, we have selected locations in Seoul that appear in Parasite that is receiving enthusiastic responses and compliments from Hollywood directors, actors and critics, as well as general audiences.
Woori Supermarket (Doijissal Supermarket) – Stairs in Ki-taek's village – the stairs of Jahamun Tunnel – Pizza Age (Sky Pizza)
This is the location where Ki-woo was suggested to take the part-time tutor position from his friend (Park Seo-joon). In the film, the supermarket's name appears as Woori Supermarket, but its real name is Doijissal Supermarket. It has quickly become oneof the must-visit spots in the Parasite filming location tour, attracting many tourists taking pictures of the supermarket. In the location where a beach umbrella was located in the film, an ice cream container is located. The beach umbrella has been removed from the location. Finding snacks from old childhood memories displayed in the store would be a fun activity as well.

This is the set of stairs in Ki-taek's village which appear in the scene where Ki-jeong buys peaches and carries them to the Park's house. Located one minute away from Woori Supermarket (Doijissal Supermarket), the stairs may look like normal stairs, but they have also become a must-visit place for Parasite fans. Visitors are asked not to cause interruptions to the residents as it is a quiet residential area. Not far from the stairs, you can visit Ahyeon-dong Furniture Complex, Seosomun Park, Songijeong Sports Park, and more. It would be a good idea to stop by these places while you are in the area.

The place Ki-taek's family headed after escaping from the Parks' house when they returned home unexpectedly from their cancelled camping trip due to the heavy rains was the stairs of Jahamun Tunnel. Bong Joon-ho chose this location to depict the class disparities through the stairs. As you look over the steep stairs across the street, the image of Ki-taek's family descending hurriedly into the poor neighborhood will come back to your mind vividly. In particular, the inside of the tunnel has a eerie atmosphere the sameas was shown in the film. The atmosphere becomes even more alive on rainy days. It would be a nice idea to visit some other tourist attractions, such as Gyeongbokgung Palace, Seoul Museum of Art, Literary Museum of Yun Dong-Ju the Poet, and more, which are in the vicinity of Jahamun Tunnel.

Christened the name, "Sky Pizza," this local family-run pizza store has been here for 17 years. It is said that it was actually the owner of this pizza store who taught them how to fold the pizza boxes. The pizza boxes that were used for shooting are displayed in the store, intriguing visitors. Outside the store, you can see a picture of the owner with director Bong Joon-ho. Taking a picture here is a must. The signature dishes in the store are deep-fried chicken, rich gold sweet potato pizza made with natural cheese, and dakgangjeong, a creation by the owner made with a special sweet and sour sauce.
