Visit Spring Flower Festivals!
See beautiful spring flowers in bloom all over Seoul. These days, it seems as though spring is shorter than ever while summer grows longer. This doesn't leave a lot of time to take in spring's flowers. This year, Seoul's flowers are expected to start blooming around March 27th, with peak bloom to be around April 2nd or 3rd. Though cherry blossoms aren't in bloom just yet, it's not too early to start planning where to go.
The Yeongdeungpo Yeouido Spring Flower Festival began in 2005 and this year is the 12th festival. The festival will run from April 4th until the 10th. Cherry blossoms (of the Yoshino Cherry variety), azaleas, forsythia, rhododendron, and bridal wreath spirea are just some of the 13 varieties of flowers along Yeouido's walkways. With the Han River on one side and a cacophony of flowers on the other, the Yeouido Spring Festival is too beautiful to miss. On the festival's opening day, there will be a parade, arts performances of all kinds, an essay contest, and assorted hands-on activities to participate in. The festival is weeks away but it's a "can't miss" event for many people.
During the second week of April, the Seokchon Lake Cherry Blossom Festival will open. There are a variety of cherry blossoms here, including Yoshino Cherry trees. Cherry blossoms line the path surrounding the lake and the trees give an effect of the flowers being at once close enough to touch and being far off in the distance. There will be many activities at the Seokchon Lake Cherry Blossom Festival. Cultural and traditional performances, face painting, caricature drawing, and much more.
The cherry blossom's pink petals give off a rather romantic energy; for another kind of atmosphere, check out a forsythia festival. The Eungbongsan Mountain Forsythia Festival takes place in early April, just as the entire mountain comes to life with yellow forsythia flowers. There are many activities for visitors at this annual festival. There will be photo zones where you can take photos with the forsythia, activities such as cookie-making, arts and crafts, games, manicures, and more.

Walk, Run Spring's Paths!
Whether you walk, run, or drive these spring paths, you're sure to enjoy the beautiful flowers along the way. Cheonggyecheon Stream flows through central Seoul and is a great urban promenade that has fountains, an outdoor theater, and Cheonggye Plaza. In the springtime, there are forsythia, azaleas, violets, apricot blossoms and other various flowers to take in as you walk along the stream. The Jungnangcheon Stream flows from Gyeonggi Province through eastern Seoul until it reaches the Han River. Cherry blossoms, magnolia, and forsythia are some of the flowers you will see here, but the tall cherry blossoms will likely leave the deepest impression on you. Anyangcheon Stream is located in western Seoul and its embankments grow thick with cherry blossoms. Walking along Anyangcheon, you may experience a flower petal shower, as even the slightest breeze will send petals fluttering. One of the stream's many positives is that for roughly 1km, you may able to walk relatively peacefully, without large crowds.
You can also drive spring's paths for some great flower viewing. Inwangsan Mountain Road, Walker Hill Road, and Cherry Blossom Simni Road are a few of the roads where you can see a plethora of spring flowers.
Inwangsan Mountain Road is Seoul's top driving course for spring flowers but not many cars are allowed through at once so you can take time to fully enjoy the cherry blossoms and the scenery. Starting in eastern Seoul, in the Seongbuk-gu area drive past Inwangsan Mountain's Sajik Park , take the Bugak Skyway to the Bugak Skyway Palgakjeong Pavilion. Rest and have lunch at the pavilion, and take in the flowers at the foot of Bukhansan Mountain and the views of the Han River. Next to Achasan Mountain Ecological Park is the Walkerhill Hotel. Drive towards the hotel and you will find Walkerhill Road. Walkerhill Road is famous for its cherry blossoms, and they line both sides of the road. You can enjoy the flowers here and also take a casual hike up Achasan Mountain. Last but not least is the Cherry Blossom Simni Road which is located between Geumchon-gu Office Station and Gasan Digital Complex Station.

Parks Full of Spring Flowers!
Namsan Park is arguably best known for Namsan Seoul Tower, but in springtime the park comes alive with flowers. Forsythia, azaleas, and cherry blossoms are just some of the many varieties of flowers at Namsan Park. Cherry blossom trees are particularly plentiful along Namsan Park's footpaths. They're so plentiful that walking along the footpaths, you may often see the paths and benches covered with petals whenever there is a breeze. A spring evening in the park can't be beat. Imagine: Namsan Seoul Tower can be seen beyond the cherry blossoms; as the sun sets, the lamposts turn on and the dusky night grows darker. You're surrounded by flowers, nature, and Seoul.
Samcheong-dong is popular area for dates as it is famous for its restaurants, unique cafes, and shops. Samcheong Park is full of cherry blossoms come springtime. The park is clean and orderly as well as large and tranquil. Other locations feel packed with cherry blossoms, but at Samcheong Park, the trees are spread out and makes for a tranquil and harmonious atmosphere.
The Children's Grand Park was built for children, but adults love the park as well and weekends at the park are always bustling with visitors. Cherry blossoms and other spring flowers start to bloom around the end of March, and the park's beauty shines through all the more. The paths are full of flowers, and there are spacious fields where you can spread out and relax. There is also a zoo, playgrounds, an outdoor theater, and more. As a cultural space, few places can rival the Children's Grand Park.
