There are 22 designated national parks in Korea, and Seoul has Bukhansan National Park, the most visited among them. Bukhansan National Park is a beloved national park in Seoul to the extent that it was registered in the Guinness Book of Records in 1994 for having the greatest number of visitors.
Wouldn't it be a shame if you didn’t visit the nearby beautiful Bukhansan Mountain? While traveling, especially to other countries, it would be very difficult and daunting to find out which mountains and hiking courses are good, what places near the mountains are worth visiting, along with other details.
So, here we are to share a piece of good news with those that might be curious. In June, the Seoul Hiking Tourism Center will open. The Seoul Hiking Tourism Center is five minutes walking distance from Exit 2 of Bukhansan Ui Station. It will provide hikers and tourists with information on Seoul hiking tourism, Seoul tourism, and various other amenities. The Seoul Hiking Tourism Center provides multilingual information services in English, Chinese, and Japanese, making it more accessible for tourists that may not speak Korean.
Once you have the necessary information, you must get the essentials ready before hiking, i.e. hiking boots and the proper attire. Hiking is greatly affected by the weather and the surrounding environment. Therefore, for safe hiking and tourism, adequate boots and attire are more essential than anything else.
No matter how much you may enjoy hiking, it's not an easy activity to enjoy while away from home during your travels. Although not part of the initial plan, if you had wanted to appreciate the incredible scenery of a national park inside the city, being prepared with some minimal hiking gear is important. The Seoul Hiking Tourism Center can be a beacon of hope in this case.
For global tourists visiting the Seoul Hiking Tourism Center, rental of essential hiking gear, such as hiking boots and hiking clothes, is provided. You can make a reservation online 48h in advance or reserve the same day on-site.
Click the "Reserve Hiking Gear" button below, select the gear you want, and enter your name, email, and contact information. If you receive a reservation confirmation via email, your reservation has been correctly processed.
If you visit the Seoul Hiking Tourism Center on your reservation date and provide your passport or Alien Registration Card for verification, you can receive the requested items. After use, you can return the items to the center. However, making an advanced reservation via the website is recommended as rental items may be out of stock. Rental items can be used with peace of mind as they are cleaned, washed, sterilized, and disinfected after every use.
After renting your equipment, you can rest comfortably in the lounge before you depart. You can also take some pictures with your family, friends, and date in the photo zone to make it a day to remember.
After equipping yourself with the rental gear and getting your body and mind ready in the lounge, all that remains is to set off for the mountain. But wait, what about your change of clothes and the bag you brought?
You won't be able to hike while carrying your personal belongings in tow. Thankfully, there is no need to worry as the Seoul Hiking Tourism Center also provides luggage storage services. Coin lockers are installed in the center for convenient and safe use.
Now you can climb the mountain trail with a lighter weight on your shoulders, physically and mentally. If this is your first-time hiking in Korea, we recommend a course that is easier to trek. For those who somewhat enjoy hiking, a round-trip course with many rocks and obstacles, where you can experience what makes the Bukhansan Mountain so alluring.
Suppose you have experienced in person the incredible natural scenery in downtown Seoul and have climbed a mountain in a good spirit. You can get cleaned up in the shower room and changing room provided at the Seoul Hiking Tourism Center. Please note that if you use the shower room, you must bring your own towels and undergarments. There are many restaurants with various menus in the vicinity of Bukhansan Mountain for visitors to wrap up their eventual day with a delicious, revitalizing meal!
