Back in 1983, two sisters, No In-a and No In-jeong, worked together to open up a workshop called Ahwon Gongbang . The unique aesthetics of Ahwon Gongbang can be felt from its artwork and the space created to display them. 

The green color and spring interior, along with the heartwarming works created by the artist, No In-a, come together to create a space that exudes a sense of healing and happiness for its visitors. 

Only with great effort and devotion can one hope to achieve making the pure indigo blue color called “jjokbit”. Hong Seon-pyo, the second generation to take over Haneul Mulbit Institute of Traditional Natural Dyeing, is a master artisan of traditional indigo dyeing techniques. The “jjokbit” dye can only be acquired during the summertime. This is because that particular shade of dye can only be extracted after being fermented at a high temperature. To produce the color, oysters and cockles are burnt to ash, grounded, and mixed together. The mixture is then pressed and sifted, producing a dye that can be used for up to a year. The whole process is repeated up to 20 times and can take up to 2 whole months for the dye to reach its lush, rich shade,showing just how much devotion and effort is required of this craft..

After a series of repeated hand movements, a fine looking knot is formed. Shim Young-mi of Donglim Knot Workshop has been making countless numbers of knots for over 50 years. Continuously developing different ways to knot, she has currently amassed 39 varied patterns of knots. Insistent on starting everything from scratch, she is always seen twisting out new thread for her knots. Her devotion to her craft is clearly shown through her heavily callused hands. They are the marks of a true artisan.

A sweet scent of wood permeates the air within the space of Cheongwon Sanbang . This workshop is a research and education center for Sim Yong-sik, an artisan possessing the title of Intangible Cultural Property No. 26. He came to succeed Choi Yeong-hwan, the great artisan who was responsible for repairing many of the damaged Korean cultural assets.  The number of all the window and door frames Sim made exceeds 200 and the numerous tools hanging on the walls of his studio are over 100 years old and still constantly in use. Looking around Cheongwon Sanbang, one can’t help but be impressed with all the delicate and beautiful frames lying around the area.
