This summer, two of Seoul's coolest summer events will take place in July. The Seoul Summer Sale, a city-wide sale will kick off on July 1st, and the Hangang Summer Festival will begin on July 15th. Department stores, duty free shops, shopping centers and other businesses will be offering a variety of discount and deals to foreigners shopping in Seoul during July. A total of 108 companies and 1,450 stores will be participating this year. The tourism mainstays, Myeong-dong, Jongno, Dongdaemun, and Gangnam are great places to start your Seoul Summer Sale shopping adventure.
Super Junior graces the cover of the official catalogue and in addition to the catalogue, there will be an event in Seoul that will give out 30,000 welcome kits containing samples of famous Korean cosmetics and coupons. Airports, tourist information centers, train stations, and hotels will be carrying the official catalogue for free distribution to tourists. The catalogue will contain detailed information about participating businesses and coupons for use in Seoul. For the convenience of foreign customers, Lotte Mart offers services such as immediate VAT tax refunds and a convenient, in-store EMS (Express Mail Service) corner for shoppers who wish to post their packages back home. Lotte Mart offers immediate tax refunds on purchases of at least 30,000 won and up to 200,000 won. Thanks to the immediate refund service, foreign visitors will no longer have to go through the cumbersome process of getting their receipt and refund form, then later claiming the duty tax at the airport on the day they depart. Customers can now receive their VAT tax back right away when they present their passport at the cash register. Shoppers who would prefer to ship their purchases home instead of lugging them around the city can go to the EMS corner and mail their packages home.
- Foreigners enjoy VAT tax exemptions when shopping even at non-duty free shops. Purchases from non-duty free shops of up to 1,000,000 won per person are VAT exempt. Purchases of at least 30,000 won and up to 200,000 won are eligible for immediate refunds.

The Hangang Summer Festival is Seoul's premier summer festival and will kick off on July 15th and run through August 21st. This year's theme is: Hangang, filled with excitement and art. with the slogan “Let’s enjoy summer vacation at Hangang”. For 38 days, the Han River's many parks will become festival grounds for people of all ages to enjoy. There will be an incredible range of activities and events taking place, everything from concerts and movie screenings, to water sports and paper boat races and a duck boat competition. In order to allow festival-goers to take part in activities and programs according to their preferences, the festival has been divided into three themes: "staying cool at Hangang" (water leisure sports), "touching moments at Hangang" (concerts, films, and performances) , and "together at Hangang "(ecological experience, camping, and resting). The Han River's Hangang parks will be set up with different concepts, so each park is a special and unique component of this year's festival.
