Located in Jeong-dong, this building is notable for its uniquely stacked red bricks. It was constructed in the 1930s as a reinforced concrete building with one basement level and two above-ground floors. The structure, finishes, and facilities reflect its nearly 100-year history. Initially used as the Korean branch of the American sewing machine brand “Singer,” it was purchased by Shina Ilbo, Korea's first commercial newspaper, in 1963. Shina Ilbo expanded the building by adding the third and fourth floors in 1975, using it as an annex. Following the forced shutdown of Shina Ilbo, the building was transformed into a memorial to commemorate the founder, Jang Ki-bong, and the newspaper. Today, it houses various businesses, including memorial halls, a café, and boutique shops, on each floor.
