On a beautiful spring day in April, the Global Seoul Mates came together to enjoy the day together. The day's itinerary included stops at the Yeouido Spring Flower Festival, the Galleria Duty Free Shop, 63 Square, Seoul Marina for a yacht ride, and the Noryangjin Fisheries Wholesale Market.
The first stop was at Galleria Duty Free 63, located at 63 Square. The nearest subway station is Yeouinaru Station. You can walk (it will take about 15 minutes) or you can take the complimentary shuttle bus. Galleria Duty Free 63 opened last year and the official grand opening will take place later this year. The duty free shop is filled with an incredible range of goods that will make you want to shop till you drop. All the Global Seoul Mates were busy, looking around at the wares on offer.
For lunch, the Global Seoul Mates ate at 63 Pavilion, a premium buffet restaurant located at 63 Square. Korean, Chinese, Japanese, and Western foods were on the menu. The quality, quantity and range of the dishes were truly impressive. The Global Seoul Mates took this time to get to know each other and chat over their meals. The dishes were as pretty as they were tasty and many of the Global Seoul Mates took photos throughout lunch.
After lunch the Global Seoul Mates headed to the Yeouido Spring Flower Festival! The flowers were in full bloom all along Yunjung-ro and the festival was a beautiful place to takes lots of photos. The Global Seoul Mates, when they weren't busy taking photos, also watched a pantomime performance under the cherry blossom trees. The hilarious performance was so good it had everyone laughing during the show. Global Seoul Mates enjoyed the spring day with the Seoulites who were also at the festival that day.
Just across the way from the National Assembly in Yeouido is a yacht wharf, Seoul Marina. After taking in the spring flower festival, the next stop on our itinerary was Seoul Marina for a luxurious yacht ride. Our Global Seoul Mates took in views of the city from their vantage points on the Han River. Seeing Seoul from the water gave everyone a new perspective of the city. The breeze and the waves made for a fun and exciting trip!
A gallery close to the heavens, 63 Sky Art. Located on the 60th floor of 63 Square, the fun begins with the elevator ride. The elevator is made entirely of glass and you'll see great views on your way up to the gallery. Not only are there incredible art exhibitions, the views of the Han River and Seoul from 63 Sky Art are hard to beat.
The last stop of the day was at Noryangjin Fisheries Wholesale Market. If the Global Seoul Mates were tired after their day of touring and sightseeing, they didn't show it. To the very end, everyone had fun exploring the market and seeing the different kinds of fish and seafood on sale. The day's trip ended with a group dinner of fresh sashimi, sannakji (sliced raw octopus), saengseon-gui (grilled fish), and other assorted seafood dishes.
The day started at 11 AM and lasted until 8 PM for our Global Seoul Mate trip. Throughout the day, the Global Seoul Mates participated in the events with passion and took countless photos of Seoul's countless charms. Our Global Seoul Mates applied for this event separately, but by the end of the day they weren't strangers but a group of friends. Who knows what the future holds for our Global Seoul Mates?
