Known for its sengwaja (Korean crackers), Kim Yong-an Confectionery Store is a store with 50 years of history. Sengwaja is often confused for Senbei, a traditional Japanese snack, but they are quite different from each other. Sengwaja was first made during Japanese imperialism when Koreans were curious about the taste of Japanese crackers. The method in which the crackers are made is different, hence, Sengwaja can be categorized as completely Korean. With a slight sweetness added to the savory and crispness of the cracker, Sengwaja can be quite addicting. Due to the cumbersome and complicated process of making these treats, it has become harder and harder to see stores selling Sengwaja lately. However, Kim Yong-an Confectionery Store continues to make and sell these crackers even today.
