Yeouido is Brimming with Spring Flowers
The Yeongdeungpo Yeouido Spring Flower Festival 2016 will run from April 4th (Mon) to April 10th (Sun).
The Yoshino Cherry Blossom originates from Jeju Island but there are 1,886 Yoshino trees in Yeouido. Additionally, there are azalea, forsythia, royal azaleas, bridal wreath spirea, deutzia, among the 13 varieties of flowers found at the festival. There are roughly 87,859 spring flowers in bloom across Yeouido Park. The fragrance of spring's flowers fills the park, and the views of the Han River can't be beat.
The festival first began in 2005 and this year is the 12th Yeongdeungpo Yeouido Spring Flower Festival. Located in the middle of Seoul, the festival is a great way to see the Han River and cherry blossoms, as well as people watch. The festival proves to be popular with visitors every year.
A wide variety of events are scheduled to take place during the festival. There will be a singing contest, street performances by the VIAF, an adorable parade of cartoon characters, horse drawn carts of flowers, performances by regional arts troupes, a writing contest, and much more.
