About
  • As indicated by Sagadokseo, a leave Sejong the Great bestowed upon public officials to take a moment of meditation through reading, books have always been associated with rest since the old days. This is probably the reason why many writers and artists had been living in Seochon, a village to the west of Gyeongbokgung Palace. As much as so, Seocho has particularly much to do with books.

Passing by a number of shops and book stores and entering a narrow alleyway in Nuha-dong, you will come to a small hanok under a grapevine. Of One Book and Stay, as the name suggests, is a space where you can escape from the crowded thoughts and busy life, and spend some quality time in peace, surrounded by books.
Details
  • Entering through the front gate, you will be greeted by a courtyard, situated coyly as if hiding a secret. To the left of the courtyard, there are a kitchen housing elaborately arranged fixtures and a living room welcoming you with books and music.

Behind the papered doors of the living room, which open like a book would, you will find the first bedroom. The first bedroom offers a cozy space filled with warmth characteristic of hanok and a view of an elegant birch in the courtyard.

To the right of the courtyard is the dining area. With your loved ones, you can enjoy dining, tea ceremony, or read books and talk about them in this space.

Outside the dining area, there is a wooden ladder. Climbing up the ladder, you will find a small attic with a low ceiling. Of One Book and Stay keeps the traditional hanok structure. However, it also offers activities that are difficult to enjoy in a traditional hanok house.

In the courtyard, which is a small haven surrounded by nature, you can sit on the wooden porch and enjoy a foot bath, immersed in the delicate fragrance of the bath salt. There is a Jueumyadok kit on a small wooden table in the kitchen for you to make and taste Bar Cham’s secret recipe. You can use the IoT system to adjust the lighting and music according to your taste.

Even so, Of One Book and Stay is certainly a space that centers on books. In each space, you can find books carefully selected by us according to the characteristics of the space. After reading books, you can climb up to the attic and organize and write down your thoughts in tranquility. This would be the grand finale of your stay. Escape from the hustle and bustle of life, and enjoy your Sagadokseo at Of One Book and Stay.
