The quarry observatory is built atop the summit of Changsin-dong quarry, providing a panoramic view of the city and natural landscapes at a glance.
During the Japanese colonial period, a quarry was located in Naksan, Changsin-dong, to supply stone for the exterior of large buildings such as the Government-General of Korea, the old Seoul Station, and the Bank of Korea. After the Korean War, the quarry's use was discontinued, but the quarry observatory was located where immigrants and refugees settled to form a village.
From the quarry observatory, with nothing obstructing the view, you can enjoy the skyline of Seoul at a glance. The second floor houses a coffee shop (Café Nakta), and the third floor features an outdoor observation deck, allowing you to appreciate the scenery of Seoul's cityscape and nature from any vantage point. Especially renowned is the breathtaking view that unfolds alongside the sunset.
Enjoy the best panoramic view, a reasonably priced cup of coffee, and homemade ggangjeong and Nakta rice cakes. Small music concerts featuring historical and cultural stories, exhibitions, and live guitar performances are held occasionally.
