The start of a new year is the best time to let go of all that had happened during the previous year. Especially over the course of 2020, everyone seems to have struggled to make it through, and now that the year has passed, we don't seem to come away with anything. Anyway, no reason to dwell on the past. Let's forget the year of COVID and cleanse ourselves of it all, so we can bring in the new year with a list of resolutions! In fact, why not make this year a year of "letting go" rather than making it all about productivity? There are plenty of goals out there to set, from becoming a minimalist, to protecting the environment, meditating , and more! If you can just see one of these things through, then we surely can call 2020 a success, am I right? Starting it all off in January each year has become a way of life that may not be the be-all-end-all of everything, but it certainly marks a new beginning. From this year on, why not try to find our peace in the midst of the big city by letting go, one small step at a time towards a minimalist life in Seoul? :)
Cleansing the Body
#ZeroWasteShop #DearEarth
The COVID-19 pandemic has visibly transformed our lives, such as seeing the increase in people working from home , taking classes online, and staying at home. With all the time in the world and the desire to output some kind of energy, people have found solace in dalgona coffee recipes at home, Netflix binging or even in redecorating their homes. But if you take a moment to stop and look at all the goods we use on a daily basis right beneath our noses, you'll find yourself surrounded by environmental issues. The toxins derived from chemical-based products, such as plastic and surfactant, accumulate within the body to negatively impact our health. If you ever feel like you're not quite up to par despite the regular intake of nutrients and extracts, then maybe it's time to create a home environment that promotes the detoxification of your body. Dear Earth, another kind of zero-waste shop, offers various "green" solutions, from solid toothpaste, bamboo toothbrushes, natural sponges, and more. All of their products are made from natural ingredients that are harmless to the human body. This is your chance to break away from all those chemical-based goods and make a choice for the benefit of not only the environment, but your body, too!

#ZeroWasteShop #ThePicker
Last year, the continued social distancing measures led to significant growth in online shopping and food delivery services all over the globe. Meanwhile, the rising credit card bills and widening waistline seem to have also brought on a skyrocketing increase of disposable goods. It's as if momentary convenience has become priority over the health of the environment. So, what kind of things are there for us to readily put into practice for the sake of future generations and the continuation of other plants and animal species? Well, the Picker, a new-concept, zero-waste shop, encourages a zero-waste lifestyle by producing eco-friendly products such as glass bowls for cereal instead of disposable ones; mesh bags and purses and bamboo straws instead of plastic. The Pickers helps promote eco-friendly alternative materials for essential goods to combat the supermarkets and convenience stores where plastic is all that's available. Now that we're in the age of longevity, perhaps it's time increase our options out there and pick up a more "green" perspective on things!

#TempleStay #GeumseonsaTemple
Those worries and concerns you swore to toss aside have somehow accompanied you into the new year. But it's okay! You can always make that resolution at the start of the year and head off to Geumseonsa Temple for some motivation! Located at the foot of Bukhansan Mountain in the Gugi-dong neighborhood of Jongno-gu, the trip to Geumseonsa Temple begins with a nice hike through nature. The hike is sure to bring you peace as you take in the clean, mountain air, and once you arrive, you'll suddenly realize you're actually not far from downtown Seoul at all! In fact, its elevated spot offers a majestic panoramic view of Seoul below. Of course, the experiential activities through the temple stay, such as the 108 prostrations and Balwoo Gongyang, or communal Buddhist meal service, are fantastic to try a hand at, but there are also some more restful stay programs that allow you to simply give yourself over to the mountainside . Bukhansan Mountain is also known for providing a warmer, cozier climate even during the winter season!
Operating hours Tue-Sat 09:00-19:00 / Closed Sundays and Mondays
#Meditation #OneDayDetoxYoga
Reflecting back on each day and year lived, have you ever been able to simply not check your phone from the moment you wake up in the morning to when you fall asleep at night? People nowadays are hooked on their smartphones . Our brains are in desperate need of rest, if only for a moment! So, how about a change of pace in honor of the new year? We can dispel of all that trivial information stuck in our heads through exercise and meditation, and one of the best ways of performing such a task is yoga! Yoga demands a very strict breathing pattern that, while concentrating on the body, helps provide a sense of serenity from the busyness of the mind. Enjoy a hot cup of tea for some "tea-tox" treatment while performing yoga and you'll find yourself renewed with vitality. You may find yourself busy in the days ahead, so be sure to take some time out during the new year to practice the art of emptying the mind and letting go.
