The Seonnongdaeje is a ritual held in Seonnongdan from the Silla Dynasty to the Joseon Dynasty. It involves ceremonies for Sin Nong, the god of agriculture, and the king's Chingyeong. Chingyeong refers to the ritual of the king personally performing agricultural activities to show an exemplary model and pray for a good harvest.) Although discontinued during the Japanese colonial period, the Seonnongdaeje was restored in 1979 and has been hosted by the Dongdaemun Foundation for Arts and Culture under the auspices of the Seonnongdan Preservation Society since 2019. We invite you to the Seonnongdaeje, which preserves history and tradition. Enjoy traditional cultural experiences and delicious seolleongtang (Ox Bone Soup) on a warm spring day.
