The Seoul Fringe Festival, the only festival in the country that allows open participation without screening or selection, started as an independent arts festival in 1998. It has occurred in various locations, including Daehak-ro, the Seoul Arts Center, Hongdae, the Seoul World Cup Stadium, and the Oil Tank Culture Park. It collaborates with various cultural and artistic spaces in Mapo-gu and Seodaemun-gu, Seoul. In an arts ecosystem where numerous factors influence the presentation of artists' works, the Fringe does not restrict artists based on qualifications or genres, supporting all experiments and attempts. The Seoul Fringe Festival aims to continue as an independent arts festival that connects artists and audiences. Every summer, experience new attempts, unique challenges, and free artistic presentations from artists across various fields, such as theater, dance, music, performance, visual arts, and video.
