Bosingak Pavilion is a well-known landmark that can be easily spotted by anyone passing through Jongno Street. The street's name, Jongno, which means "Bell Street," is derived from the presence of this historic bell. The chime of the Bosingak Bell, especially during the transition to the new year, has become a cherished tradition. Historically, Bosingak Pavilion functioned as a public clock maintained by the government. When the water clock at Borugak indicated the time, the bell at Bosingak would be rung to announce the time throughout Hanyang. During the Joseon Dynasty, the residents of Hanyang began and ended their days with the sound of the Bosingak bell.
The exhibition "Bosingak Pavilion: Echoes of Time" delves into the history and evolution of the Bosingak Pavilion. Through this exhibit, visitors can explore the daily lives of Joseon-era Hanyang residents, who lived according to the rhythmic chimes of the Bosingak bell.
