From September 1st to October 13th, 2023, the Vivian Choi Gallery will host a three-person exhibition titled 'Collection of Moments,' featuring artists Kim Yeon Soo, Rosie Park, and Lim Jin Sil. In this exhibition, three artists who have collaborated in the realm of painting techniques come together to illuminate the subtle relationship between memory and the subconscious through artworks that uniquely express inner landscapes preserved within the time and space of the past, using their distinctive visual languages.
Kim Yeon Soo, Rosie Park, and Lim Jin Sil, the artists, capture moments unconsciously stored in memory within spaces they casually overlook. The subtle emotions of the artists, intertwined with the current inner consciousness, intersect with the spaces and objects that once existed in the subconscious. This unique painterly expression by the three artists highlights their ability to capture this delicate relationship as they reconfigure it in a dreamlike manner. The works of Kim Yeon Soo, Rosie Park, and Lim Jin Sil do not spotlight any particular events, figures, or objects as protagonists. Instead, they breathe life into places and objects that often go unnoticed, like the modest roofs of an obscure neighborhood, a secluded and unnamed beach, or a small potted plant guarding a desk corner. These surroundings, taken for granted yet filled with the artists' momentary feelings and emotions, are reconstructed to become unique landscapes with different memories, offering a special perspective.
Through the three-person exhibition "Collection of Moments" by Kim Yeon Soo, Rosie Park, and Lim Jin Sil, the hope is that you'll experience the opportunity to observe the infinite world unfolding around you. Ordinary objects that go unnoticed, places casually passed by, elements of life that remain inconspicuous in the periphery, and those that construct life with simplicity come together. Gain the experience of seeing the limitless world that surrounds you.
