During the Joseon Dynasty, kings would release hawks here for hunting, which earned it the nickname Maebongsan Mountain (Hawk Mountain). The area was also home to Dongho Dokseodang, an educational site for scholars and pavilions like Hwanghwajeong and Yuhajeong. To the south of Eungbong was a storage facility for ice called Dongbinggo. Today, Eungbongsan is designated as a neighborhood park, attracting many visitors who enjoy Seoul’s sunsets and night views. The park also offers recreational facilities such as a children's park, rock climbing area, and badminton courts, making it an excellent spot for various activities.
