Park Sang Wook, Storicity CEO, says no two travels are the same. It can become entirely different depending on whom you travel with, how, where, and doing what. Traveling alone, with your parents, and with your significant other are all different. It also changes depending on how your tastes evolve. For instance, you might travel for fishing, then travel to a mountain. But all trips have one thing in common. There is a destination and there is a plan, whatever it may be.
That is why we welcome Storicity’s “Yeoda” service. Yeoda, short for “yeohaeng”(travel) and “yeolda”(to open), is creating a new form of travel planning culture. The user accesses Yeoda and answers some detailed questions that follow. Yeoda asks whether the user has company, either traveling alone or with a friend, then asks for the duration of the trip. It is followed by 17 different travel themes which can be selected as needed. For instance, one can choose art museums, guided tours, cycling, and popular places to eat all at once. It also asks whether you have a transportation preference or booked accommodations. If you haven’t already booked one, it asks for a preferred accommodation type and price range. There are many, many questions. It makes you realize your tastes as you answer them.
Results are not immediately released. It takes 1-2 days to receive a travel plan, and CEO Park Sang Wook says there’s a good reason why. Yeoda’s database is built by two different methods. Places to sleep, eat, and tour are searched from reliable information based on big data. In the meantime, staff members visit each travel spot to confirm and update the information.
Based on a huge database, Yeoda chooses routes that best suit the user. Of course, it cannot provide a perfect result at the first try, no matter how smart. In case the first candidate is not satisfactory, it also provides a second candidate travel spot and optimized information per candidate location. The candidate options come in handy when you need a substitute, for instance, when the first candidate restaurant or travel spot is closed or the weather is not nice. Selection is made easy because you choose from your preferences.
Storicity’s advantage is that we can anticipate a synergy with the Seoul Tourism Organization. Seoul is a world-class scale city and there are many places that are yet to be found. Based on Storicity’s curation technology and travel expertise, new spots in Seoul can be discovered. Also, CEO Park Sang Wook noted that Storicity has “strived to satisfy customers’ tastes by including small towns and reflecting each freeway on the travel routes.” They hope to take their expertise to provide enjoyable travel experiences to tourists from abroad visiting Korea.
