"Seoul LIGHT" - Winter Light Festa opening at DDP

Seoul LIGHT event is a large-scale light show that combines light, video and music, while using the front of the DDP building as a projection screen.

For this inaugural event, world-renowned Turkish media designer Lepic Anadol joins as the main designer in collaboration with Se-hui Min as general director, who is leading the field of data visualization using AI.

"SEOUL HAEMONG" is the theme of this year's Seoul LIGHT, which interprets and recombines Seoul, Dongdaemun's history, the present-day and future of new technologies such as AI and machine learning to express them via light and video, and it contains stories of various people through the voluntary participation of citizens.

In addition, there will be many festive events such as Seoul LIGHT seminars and workshops with Lepic Anadol, Christmas celebration, and a New Year's Eve countdown, as well as food trucks, exciting busking performances and designer markets in Oullim Square and the park.

Winter Light Festa will be held for citizens to enjoy and appreciate with one another in places all around DDP such as the Design Lab, Museum, Art Hall, and Design Market.

1. Main event: Opening of Seoul Light

❍ Opening period: Dec. 20, 2019 (Fri.) - Jan. 3, 2020 (Fri.), 15 days

❍ Screening place: 220m from DDP's west front wall

❍ Screening content: Theme "Seoul Haemong," a media facade that uses AI

❍ Opening event: Seminar, Opening event

❍ Special events: Workshops, Christmas celebration (Dec. 24-25), New Year’s Eve countdown (Dec. 31)

2. Supplementary events <Seoul Light Market>

○ A market where merchants in Dongdaemun, young people, small business owners and the design industry can enjoy together.

○ A market to sell fashion clothes and accessories, home decor, crafts and souvenirs, lighting products, Christmas items, and other lifestyle-related products

○ Special event:- K-pop music concert: December 20, 21, and 24 (18:00-20:00); Oullim Square Street Fashion Show: December 20 (21:00-21:20); Oullim Square - Food trucks, and street performances, etc.
