Changsin-dong Cliff Village, located in Changsin 1, 2, and 3-dong in Dongdaemun-gu, Seoul, has undergone various transformations over the years. It was a quarry village in the 1960s, a wooden village in the 1970s, a sewing factory in the 1990s, and finally a sewing village in the 2000s. It is situated around the rocky cliffs once used as the nation's only quarry. Changsin-dong Cliff Village is divided into densely packed, dilapidated, aged homes built on cliffs and precipices and homes formed beneath rocky hills.
